The Journey
Day 1 – Dawn Ride & Vineyard Welcome
- Begin your journey at Val de Vie Estate, where your horse and personal guide await at sunrise.
- Ride through private vineyard trails and open fynbos plains, with panoramic views of Table Mountain and the Hottentots Holland range.
- After a 2-hour scenic ride, dismount at a hidden vantage point where a butler-served gourmet picnic awaits — think artisanal cheeses, cured meats, fresh oysters, and sparkling MCC — all paired with views only accessible on horseback.
- Transfer to The Vineyard Estate at Franschhoek for check-in. Your suite overlooks the valley, with private plunge pool and dedicated butler service.
- Evening features a fireside tasting menu curated by a Michelin-trained chef, paired with rare Cape wines. Post-dinner, enjoy a private sound bath meditation under the stars.
Day 2 – Mountain & Meadow Immersion
- Ride into the Boschendal Estate foothills — a protected natural corridor where Cape mountain zebra, bontebok, and eland roam freely.
- Your 3-hour trail winds through ancient oak forests and wildflower meadows, ending at a secret glade where a butler-laid picnic awaits — think slow-roasted lamb, truffle-infused polenta, and wild mushroom tart.
- Return to your lodge for a 60-minute on-site massage (choose from aromatherapy, sports recovery, or hot stone) — delivered in your private garden gazebo.
- Dinner is a “Table for Two Under the Trees” experience — candlelit, with live jazz, wine sommelier pairings, and a dessert cart featuring local honeycomb and chocolate ganache.
Day 3 – Full-Day Wilderness & Wellness Journey
- Depart after breakfast for a 6-hour epic trail ride through the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve — one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.
- Ride along forested mountain passes, beside hidden streams, and across high-altitude plateaus.
- Lunch is a butler-served gourmet spread at a private dam — complete with chilled champagne, caviar blinis, and smoked trout salad — all set on linen under a canopy of proteas.
- Return to Tanglewood Estate, where your safari-style tent is now equipped with a private outdoor shower, heated floor, and aromatherapy diffuser.
- Unwind with a post-ride massage (included) beside your tent’s firepit, followed by a “Fireside Feast” — slow-cooked boerewors, wild mushroom risotto, and local berry crumble — served with live Afrikaans guitar music.
Day 4 – Coastal Cliffs & Grand Finale
- Ride through the Haweqwa Mountains via Canetsfontein’s private trails — pine forests, rocky outcrops, and sweeping coastal views.
- After a 3-hour ride, return to Tanglewood for a champagne brunch with omelettes cooked over open flame, fresh berries, and artisanal breads.
- Transfer back to Val de Vie Estate for final goodbyes — where your horse is honored with a ceremonial grooming and treat, and you receive a personalized leather-bound journal of your journey, complete with photos and route map.
- Depart with a goodie box featuring local preserves, organic teas, and a hand-painted horse figurine.
